Buyer Policy

Last updated: January 27, 2026

Welcome! This Buyer Policy explains how purchasing works on ScrapIsGood, what you can expect as a buyer, and how we help keep transactions fair and transparent. Our goal is to make buying materials simple, safe, and predictable.

1. How Our Marketplace Works

ScrapIsGood is a peer-to-peer marketplace. This means:

  • Items are listed and sold by independent sellers who have leftover scrap material they want to sell
  • Each seller manages their own listings, pricing, and shipping
  • We provide the platform that connects buyers and sellers and helps facilitate payment

While we work to maintain a high-quality marketplace, individual sellers are responsible for fulfilling orders.

2. Product Listings & Descriptions

Sellers are responsible for providing accurate descriptions of their items, including:

  • Material type and condition
  • Dimensions, quantities, and tolerances (where applicable)
  • Any known defects or limitations

We encourage buyers to:

  • Read listings carefully
  • Review photos and descriptions
  • Contact the seller with questions before purchasing if anything is unclear

3. Pricing, Taxes, and Fees

  • Item prices are set by sellers
  • Applicable taxes may be added at checkout depending on your location (ScrapIsGood is not required to charge tax at this point in time)
  • Shipping costs are shown before you complete your purchase

4. Payments & Checkout

Payments are processed securely through our payment provider.

  • Your payment is collected at the time of purchase
  • Funds are released to the seller according to our seller payout process
  • We do not store your full payment details

If a payment fails or is flagged, we may ask for additional verification to protect all parties.

5. Shipping & Delivery

Shipping terms are set by individual sellers, including:

  • Shipping method
  • Estimated handling and delivery times

Buyers are responsible for:

  • Providing an accurate shipping address
  • Reviewing delivery estimates before purchase

Once an item has shipped, delivery timing is largely dependent on the carrier.

6. Returns, Refunds, and Cancellations

Remember you are buying scrap, or second-hand material. Imperfections are expected. You are getting this material at a reduced price. There are no returns if you change your mind.

Review the Refunds section of our Terms of Use.

Because sellers are independent, return and refund policies may vary by listing.

General guidelines:

  • Reach out to us using the "Report an Issue" button (found with each order in your Order History)
  • If an item arrives damaged or significantly not as described, document the issue and reach out promptly.

If you're unable to resolve an issue with a seller, we're here to help review the situation.

7. Buyer Responsibilities

By purchasing on ScrapIsGood, buyers agree to:

  • Use the platform honestly and respectfully
  • Communicate professionally with sellers
  • Not misuse chargebacks or dispute systems
  • Follow applicable laws and regulations
  • Accept second-hand, used material with some imperfections

Accounts that show abusive or fraudulent behavior may be restricted.

8. Safety & Common-Sense Guidelines

To help keep everyone safe:

  • Keep communication and payments on the platform
  • Be cautious of deals that seem too good to be true
  • Report suspicious listings or messages to support@scrapisgood.com

9. Policy Updates

As our marketplace grows, this policy may evolve. When we make meaningful changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date and post the revised version here.
